Secondary: Placement Qualification
In order to certify a teacher in a middle or high school position, we typically require one of the following to be true:
A. Degree in a related content area
B. At least 15 post-secondary credit hours in a related content area
C. Significant work or volunteer experience in the content area
D. Demonstrated passion and expertise in the content area

Teach St. Louis' Alternative Certification program is designed as an immersive and intensive experience, preparing teachers to be effective in their classrooms. Participants continue to teach 5 days a week, while attending graduate-level certification coursework during the evenings. Participants often complete coursework assignments and lesson planning in the evenings and participate in bi-weekly coaching with Teach St. Louis staff. The Alternative Certification program is a challenging full-time commitment, and participants must meet the expectations of their work as a teacher at their partner school and their certification coursework with Teach St. Louis. What makes you a strong candidate for this kind of commitment? (Responses can include examples from past professional or educational experiences that mirror this level of commitment.)
