Sam Smith, Instructional Faculty

Sam Smith is a passionate advocate for educational equity and has enjoyed a career in education for nearly twenty years. Prior to joining the Teach St. Louis team, she served as an English teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, and assistant principal in the St. Louis Public and Maplewood Richmond Heights school districts. She holds a B.S. in English education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, an M.A. in educational leadership, and an Ed.D. in education administration, both from Maryville University. Sam has spent over fifteen years coaching high school policy debate, frequently sending students to state and national competition. She has served on regional and national school accreditation teams, non-profit boards, and is currently a new administrator mentor for the MO Leadership Development System. Sam lives in St. Louis city with her husband and his cats, and enjoys reading, cooking, and folding paper cranes.
